Great news here: Athletes United Women's Pro LeagueThe US has tried to run women's professional leagues a couple of times in the past -- the most recent was the USPVL about 18 years ago! And even the PVL teams that play at the US Open Nationals have tried to secure funding to do a league, with minimal success unfortunately. Countries all around the world have professional leagues, and they're very popular - that's why so many of our collegiate athletes, both men and women, go overseas after graduating. These professional players get paid to play, just like athletes in other professional leagues in the US. And they become "sports heroes" in the countries they play in. Virtually all of our men's and women's National Team players are competing in professional leagues outside the US when our National Teams don't have VNL, World Championships, World Grand Prix, or NORCECA events to play in. That's how they stay at the top of their game! So, here's to hoping this venture is successful!!
